CARMEL, Texas – A high-school student who went missing from her Carmel, Texas, school was found dead Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
A police officer who searched a home near the high school found two guns in the house, authorities in the Dallas suburb said.
The officer found the student, who was not identified, in a bedroom and took her to a nearby hospital, authorities told the Dallas Morning News.
The police officer then called a neighbor, who contacted authorities.
Authorities said the student’s body was found at about 1 p.m. in a home about a mile from the high-speed train station.
The school had been closed for the day after a gunman opened fire outside a church.
The suspect was shot and killed by police.
The teen had been on the football team at Carmel High School, where she was the first black student.
Authorities say she was last seen at her home around 1:30 p.t. on Saturday.
The student was last heard from in a text message she left for her family.
“I’m so sorry for all the pain and sadness,” she wrote.
