Memorial High School students who died after their car hit another car in South Bend

South Bend high school students who were killed in a collision at Memorial High School are memorialized in a high school parking lot in South Boston.

On Wednesday, Memorial High’s campus was flooded after the school was hit by a pickup truck in the parking lot of the school, according to a report from WBUR.

The school, located at 2515 South St. in South Beach, is just a few blocks from the University of Notre Dame, where the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team plays.

According to the report, Memorial is a small Catholic high school and the students were from both high schools.

“The students were a very close knit group and we will miss them very much,” said a statement from the South Bend Independent School District.

“They are loved and will be missed by all.”

A memorial was set up on the south end of Memorial’s parking lot, with a small, white plaque reading, “Memorial High students who perished in the collision of a pickup at Memorial were memorialized by the students.”

Students at the school are being offered counseling and other support services, WBUR reported.
